Business Development Manager, MiDOG

As a Business Development Manager at Zymo Research, you will play a pivotal role in our business development department, reporting directly to the MiDOG Director. Your role involves generating networked leads, servicing marketing leads, and boosting sales for MiDOG's cutting-edge diagnostic tool, the All-in-One Test. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead the identification and mapping of new business opportunities in our market space, especially large accounts in research universities, corporations, and other major biomedical entities in the veterinary health sector.
  • Proactively seek new business opportunities in the market.
  • Develop strong relationships with key clients to maintain the ongoing influx of business opportunities.
  • Partner with the product and services teams to understand our offerings thoroughly.
  • Work closely with other departments, including marketing and operations, to develop a cohesive and comprehensive growth strategy.
  • Monitor and analyze industry trends and market changes.
  • Negotiate and close business deals that promote sustained revenue in collaboration with different business units.
  • Maintain an extensive understanding of current market conditions and industry trends to capitalize on business development opportunities.
  • Develop a deep understanding of MiDOG’s diagnostic capabilities.
  • Work with business intelligence, marketing, and the business development team to identify and engage prospects and take advantage of emerging opportunities.
  • Follow-up with leads and customers regularly providing sample/trial kits as needed.
  • Engage with prospective and existing customers via phone and email daily.
  • Manage the sales process coordinating new opportunities and sales with different departments such as research, finance, manufacturing, technical and customer support.
  • Attend Industry Tradeshows and events to learn, prospect and share information.
  • Create and present engaging, educational, and informative product presentations.
  • Maintain internal databases (NetSuite CRM, Email) with prospective client and customer information.
  • Generate, prepare, and present professional and accurate prospecting and sales reports.
  • Provide prospect and customer feedback to research teams to assist in future sample collection and diagnostic innovation.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or Marketing. MBA is a plus.
  • 3-5 years account management and/or product sales experience.
  • Product sales in veterinary medicine or veterinary diagnostics is a plus.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently, multi-task, prioritize, and manage time efficiently.
  • Intelligent indirect leadership skills driving execution across the organization.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and collaboration skills (verbal and written).
  • Demonstrated ability to create compelling and engaging presentations.
  • Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office) and familiarity with CRM/NetSuite/Salesforce.
  • Ability to travel potentially 10-15% of the time.
  • Highly self-driven personality.
  • Proven working experience as a business development manager or a relevant role with in-depth understanding of the biotech reagent market.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and CRM software (e.g., Salesforce).
  • Proven track record in sales, business development, and winning new business in the biotech industry, especially for RUO market.
  • Proven track record of increasing revenue through the generation of leads.
  • Knowledge of market research, sales, and negotiating principles.
  • Outstanding communication/presentation skills and the ability to build relationships.
  • Organizational and time-management skills.

Compensation:

The estimated base compensation range for this position is $75,000 to $90,000 per year at the time of posting. Actual compensation details will be provided in writing at the time of offer, if applicable, and is based on several factors we believe fairly and accurately impact compensation, including geographic location, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, and other job permitted factors.
