UX Intern

Job Summary:

Zymo Research is seeking a talented and motivated UX Intern to join our marketing team. As a UX Intern, you will play a crucial role in creating compelling e-commerce platform and landing pages that enhance the user journey and drive conversions. Your primary responsibilities will involve building wireframes, prototypes, and image assets. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in user experience design, user interface design, and digital marketing while contributing to Zymo Research's marketing initiatives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• User Experience (UX) Design:
  • Assist in conducting user research to understand the needs, behaviors, and pain points for optimizing user journeys and conversion rates.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including marketing managers, engineers, and scientists to gather requirements and translate them into intuitive user interfaces and experiences.
  • Create wireframes, prototypes, and user flows to visualize and communicate design concepts effectively.
• User Interface (UI) Design:
  • Participate in design critiques and provide constructive feedback to improve the usability and aesthetic appeal of digital products and applications.
  • Help maintain design systems and libraries to ensure consistency and efficiency across different projects and platforms.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in UX/UI design and biotechnology to contribute innovative ideas and solutions.
• E-commerce and Landing Page Design:
  • Create the design for the e-commerce platform and landing pages to leverage Zymo Research’s marketing strategy, focusing on user engagement and conversion optimization.
  • Collaborate with the marketing and technical teams to create persuasive copy and compelling visuals that communicate the value proposition effectively.
  • Work with web developers to implement landing page designs using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, ensuring cross-browser compatibility, responsiveness, and optimal page load times.

 Education and Experience:

• Preferably, candidates should have or be working towards a BS or MS in HCI, Design, Informatics, Web Development, or a related field.
• Work experience is a plus.
• Strong understanding of user-centered design principles and practices, with a focus on user journeys and conversion optimization.
• Proficiency in design and prototyping tools such as Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, XD) or Sketch, InVision, or Figma.
• Basic knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript for email template and landing page development.
• Familiarity with responsive design principles and cross-browser compatibility considerations.
• Excellent visual design skills, with a keen eye for detail and aesthetics.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
• Knowledge of the life sciences or biotechnology industry is a plus.

Compensation:

The estimated base compensation range for this position is $20/hour at the time of posting. Actual compensation details will be provided in writing at the time of offer, if applicable, and is based on several factors we believe fairly and accurately impact compensation, including geographic location, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, and other job permitted factors.
